Rescue, Reform, Revive

"A New Initiative for North American Churches"

"Go to America and preach the Gospel for my people are confused"

That was the mandate that Jonathan received in 2020 when returning from the mission field in Africa. It resonated with his soul and echoed true in the depth of his spirit. In the eight years prior to receiving this mandate, Jonathan had never forgotten about the original calling that he received upon getting to know Jesus in 2012 at the age of nineteen. A deep love for the church was birthed in Jonathan's heart in that moment. An urgency arose inside of him to see reformation and revival in the churches.

In the eight years that followed, Jon lived in obedience to God's guidance even though it sometimes felt like God's guidance pulled him further away from that original call to minister to the Christian church. Through it all, Jonathan realized that God was preparing him for something greater; he realized that God was working on him and his character to prepare him for what was to come. In 2020 it was finally time. The Lord sent him to America to minister to Christians.

There are many churches in the Christian world that are stuck. These churches see glimpses of renewal, bursts of hunger, waves of life, and sometimes even miracles, but they never seem to arrive in that promised land that the early church experienced. Complacency reigns, frustration lingers, internal problems manifest and take over, people come and go, traction is gained and lost again, and God's kingdom is never quite established in those communities.

This is because the Western church has departed from God's early church model because of traditions, lifeless doctrines, and man-made leadership structures. There is often an extreme lack of the guidance of the Holy Spirit that is accompanied by an increasing lack of knowledge about God's ways.

Jon's mission is to come alongside those churches, to walk with them, and to lead them back to the New Testament model that brought forth so much fruit for the early church. Besides teaching God's ways for the church based on scripture, Jon also focuses on individuals within those churches. In his experience, the majority of Christians do not know their giftings and the calling that is on their lives. His ministry focuses on raising up ministers, leaders, and helpers within those local churches so that they can successfully build God's kingdom locally.

Jonathan does not come in as a pastor, but rather in an apostolic oversight role to help the local leadership to fulfill their calling. Jon walks with existing leadership teams, helps churches to find suitable leaders from without or to raise up suitable leaders from within. Jon relies on the guidance of the Holy Spirit to help local churches. Every church is different, every situation is different, and every community that surrounds a local church comes with its blessings and challenges. Yet there is an answer to every situation in the abundant wisdom of the Holy Spirit and the infallible truths of scripture.

A New Testament Approach

Jonathan deeply cares about the Western church, especially the American church. He is aware of the fact that there are many small and even large churches in America that need to be rescued, reformed, and revived. This often involves a rebuilding process within those local churches to fill the spiritual voids that are present. Here are some important steps that Jon will help you make to become all that God wants your church to be.

Raise Up Local Leaders

One of the main things that often needs to be addressed in each local church is leadership.  Every church needs godly and spirit-filled leaders, elders and pastors. While working with a church, the Holy Spirit highlights these types of leaders within the church and community. This often results in forming a group of elders, deacons and the ordination of one or more pastors according to the New Testament example.

Raising Up Ministers

Not only elders and leaders are called to minister within the local body, but members as well. These giftings and callings need to be identified and called forth. The local leaders should always raise up other people beside them to build God's kingdom. These people may be part of the five main ministries or they may be functioning in other important giftings like hospitality, administrative work or children work.

The Holy Spirit

A church cannot follow the New Testament model without understanding about the importance of the Holy Spirit. Important issues like the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, inviting the Holy Spirit as a guide and overcoming the flesh with the help of the Holy Spirit must be taught and understood. Jonathan believes strongly in the coming together of the word and the Spirit. Through this coming together of the word and the Spirit, a local church will find great fruit and stability.

Laying a Scriptural Foundation

Every church needs to go a great extant to lay a strong scriptural foundation. Without it a local church is open to confusion, division and even deception. Jonathan will help the local leadership by dealing with important topics like family, role of the husband, role of the wife, giving, faith, unity etc. Jonathan is keen to helping each local church to boldly stand on the truths of scripture in the face of today's cultural onslaught.

A Heart for Discipleship

Discipleship gets often rejected in the contemporary church model, but without discipleship we cannot raise up mature and fruitful believers. Jesus said to make disciples of all the nations and not just believers. Jonathan teaches a lot about discipleship, its importance and practically helps the church family in walking it out.

Outreach, Evangelism & Mission Trips

Jesus clearly told us to go into the neighborhoods, cities, nations and even unto the end of the world to preach the glorious Gospel. No, not every Christian is called to be an evangelist but to be a soul winner. Jonathan practically helps churches to leave their comfortable places of inactivity behind and to step into the ministry of winning souls. He invites and raises up gifted evangelists to help achieve this important goal.

Invite Jonathan

Jonathan has experienced that every time a church follows the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the guidance of scripture that such a church will only flourish and glorify Jesus. He has seen how churches come to life when they follow God's perfect church design. Jonathan seeks to stay in long term relationship with every church and serve them. He ministers to those churches in person, via phone, email and his online ministry. He offers this ministry free of charge.
